Laundry Day - Care Symbol Reader App Reviews

30 add

Beautifully designed, but the camera isnt reliable

The iPhone camera cant focus on things that are too close to the lens, and since laundry tags are often tiny, they need to be pulled close to the lens to be big enough for this app to read them. The result is that I just have to manually select the icons I see. But its still useful. Its also full of broken English. Could use a copywriter to fix that up. (Id be willing to help!)

Well Done

Simple and useful.

Perfect for All Who Wear Clothes

Great idea and efficient implementation. Scanning works well, and if it doesnt, one can enter the symbols by hand and get the info needed. Attractive interface without clutter or "just because I could" useless features.

Great idea, needs a few upgrades

Things Id like to see added: Saving scans and associating them with the name and a photo of the garment Manual camera focusing (for numbers on the symbols

Two flaws

Decent app with 2 flaws: It has a hard time focusing the camera. And I continually tap on the screen, expecting it to focus where I tapped, but instead it takes me to the symbols page. And 2nd, it would be nice if it converted the temperatures to Fahrenheit for Americans. I cant remember if 30 or 40 degrees is warm or hot, and I hate having to convert manually each time.

This is awesome!!

Thank you for helping the domestically challenged. Simple and easy to use. Now to figure out how to change to Fahrenheit

Great and easy app

Does what it says. Clean and clear menus make Laundry Day worth the price.

Design

Bought this just for the icon illustration. So fresh, like my laundry.

Fantastic Laundry App!

Fantastic laundry app! Downloaded it and then went about my closet scanning tags. So easy to use, scan tag, align the circles onto the symbols, tap your screen and presto! It tells you what those little strange symbols mean! It will help me to properly clean my clothes now, after 30+ years of doing laundry. Works on foreign tags too! Thank you!!!

A Godsend for a College Kid

Assuming youre like most college kids, you probably never did your own laundry all that much before you went off to college. Mom did. But now youre doing it all the dang time. And while you know the basics, youre surly no expert like momma. Enter this app, which does a fantastic job of informing of the "rules" for certain items of clothing you may not be sure about. God knows I never knew what any of the weird symbols on my clothes ever meant. But I do now.

Neat tool, beautifully designed.

A very practical tool and a neat how to on subject matter that people tend to know little technical details about!

Smart idea, inaccurate and confusing descriptions

This is a really cool idea for the crazy world of laundry labels and instructions. But, there are a lot of issues with the bleaching instructions. A bunch that say bleaching is not allowed then continue to say bleaching is allowed. There are other inconsistencies too which should be fixed.

Awesome app not for grammar Nazis

Thank god for this app! I bought it immediately. No more ruining brand new shirts or letting my favorite clothes deteriorate from bad washing. However, I took off one star because the app needs to be spelling and grammar checked by someone fluent in English. The designer and coder are both Czech so it’s understandable, I just want to suggest that they run it by a native English speaker.

Stunning and useful

Gorgeous icons and wonderfully useful app. Only improvement would be an option to save the clothes Ive scanned so I dont have to do it again.

Deaign, Design

I know about laundry stuff but I still bought this app. Just for design.

Wow

Have some issue with old labels but manual mode is also perfect.

Neat app with future potential

I love the visual design, and its certainly fun to see someone do something clever like this. If you could actually save settings for certain pieces of clothing and name them (also add a picture od clothing item, this would be a very, very useful app. I like to cut off the descriptions on certain clothing items because they can be annoying, and having them in one place would be very convenient.

Simple.

Simple and great.

Ok, this is pretty awesome.

Seriously, it works just as it says and its pretty handy. Cant believe no one had thought of this before!

Good idea. Mediocre execution.

Great idea, but the image recognition is only accurate about 10% of the time. Worse, the English is poor (obviously not a first language), the units are in Celsius, and the "tips" are of so-so quality. Its a handy reference for when the label is illegible, but youre better off reading the labels instructions if you can. To improve, the author needs to find an English editor and make sure the units and tips are appropriate for the audience.
